We are currently not taking in new volunteers. 

The aim of our foster programme is to prepare dogs for a life in a caring home environment, offering them exercise, training, grooming, proper healthcare and diet to turn them into the best pet they can be and enhance their chances for adoption. It holds many responsibilities but can be very extremely rewarding and fulfilling.

The minimum foster period is 1 month or until the dog is adopted. You may choose to foster beyond 1 month but we also have the right to remove the dog before the minimum foster period is up if we find that the dog is not fitting in well in his or her environment.

Fosterers cannot choose which dog/puppy to foster but they can have the option to decline if they feel that the dog/puppy is not suitable for them. We will always try to match a dog/puppy with the foster family based on the information given to us.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: The only dogs available for fostering are those with additional needs (e.g. health issues requiring additional care or behavioral needs such as extreme skittishness requiring extra attention). Therefore, please DO NOT write in to foster if you do not have any prior dog experience. Please note that most of our rescued dogs are medium to large size as they are mainly strays rescued from the streets. ALL members of the household must be on board with you bringing a foster dog home. 

We count on our kennel volunteers to help us in our ultimate goal of finding our dogs good homes. Kennel volunteers are the backbone of our operations, helping keep our dogs in good physical and mental condition, hosting potential adopters, and helping train, socialise and rehabilitate our dogs. 

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:  All volunteers must undergo a mandatory orientation and training (weekly for 3 consecutive weekends, typically on a Saturday) and are required to make a commitment to volunteering regularly. The minimum expectation is that you will be present atleast twice a month for a minimum of 6 months. Most of our volunteers come in every weekend. 

Please note that we require all our volunteers to be 21 and over for safety reasons.

Our next intake will be in the 2nd quarter of 2025.

As a self-funded organization, we are totally reliant on the support of the public and our volunteers to constantly organize events, raise awareness, and design new merchandise that can generate revenue for our rescue, rehoming, medical and sterilization efforts.
 

In order to facilitate the daily operations of ASD, we need volunteers who can help with transportation of dogs to the vet clinics and dog food to foster homes. These are important roles without which ASD cannot function. 

Please include your typical availability to help with transport (e.g. weekdays or weekends, mornings or evenings etc.) 

If you wish to do a project for your CIP or VIA, you can help us raise awareness and funds through the sale of merchandise at your school. We welcome you to design your own campaign as well!

ASD also offers organization the opportunity to make a difference! We offer various engagement opportunities, ranging from a kennel refresh to ad-hoc support at adoption drives or dog outings. Do note that many of our engagements do have a donation component to them to help us with our operating costs.
